The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) implemented Rooftop Solar program phase-II in August 2019. Under this program, 4000 MW of Rooftop Solar (RTS) capacity addition was planned to be achieved through Central Financial Assistance (CFA). The program targets residential sector including households in urban and rural areas as well as group housing societies. This scheme was launched to help India meet its commitment to generate 40% of its electricity demand through non-fossil fuels by 2030.
Power Foundation of India launched a digital campaign to educate consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar system and guide them through the processes of obtaining one. The campaign also highlighted the financial incentives and subsidies provided by the Government of India. This pan-India initiative was launched on Facebook and Instagram.
